O Lord our Governor, bless the leaders of our land, that we may be a people at peace among ourselves and a blessing to other nations of the earth. To Senators and Representatives, and those who make our laws in States, Cities, and Towns, give courage, wisdom, and foresight to provide for the needs of all our people, and to fulfill our obligations in the community of nations. And finally, teach our people to rely on your strength and to accept their responsibilities to their fellow citizens, that they may elect trustworthy leaders and make wise decisions for the well-being of our society; that we may serve you faithfully in our generation and honor your holy Name. AMEN.

Yesterday our country went to the polls to cast our ballots for our candidate. There was a great deal of energy focused on this day to get us informed and out voting. Interestingly, many people will not talk about November 7th, 2018. It just happens to be the day after the election. As Christians we are called to do what we did on the days leading up to November 6th: pray and tell the story of the Gospel! Our focus is always on the Gospel which commands us to love God and love our neighbor. We let this guiding principle inform our prayers for our elected leaders and guide our relationship with those we meet. Prayer has power and we have power! I invite us to pray daily for our country, leaders, friends, family, and all our fellow children of God.
