My name is Justin Yawn and I am an Episcopal Priest who is the rector of St. Luke’s on the Lake in Austin, TX. I began my tenure at St. Luke’s in 2019. Before accepting my current call, I served as Rector at Christ Episcopal Church in Temple, TX and as Associate Rector for youth and families at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Prior to that I served as Campus Minister at Georgia Southern University.
Enough about the boring professional stuff and here is a quick snapshot about who I am!
What about my family?
I am the happy husband of Vanessa and we are the proud parents of Lennox, our son, Hershel Walker, our chocolate lab, and Brisco, our English Pointer. Together we get into more trouble than I am willing to write on this page!
What is one of my favorite Scriptures?
Matthew 22:37-40
If I could spend a week anywhere in the world where would it be?
If I had only one week, I would head straight to Martinborough, New Zealand to enjoy a glass of Pinot Noir and to Queenstown/Wanaka to go canyoning through the ravines and waterfalls.
What is the most adventurous thing I have ever done?
Paragliding in New Zealand. You get a whole new sense of life when you run off a perfectly good mountain and hang suspended by a couple of nylon cables!
What is my favorite cupcake flavor?
Easy: Boston cream pie.
What is my favorite part about being an Episcopal Priest?
I love being able to form relationships with people and watch them grow deeper in their faith with God. This is not something I take for granted, but the core of my ministry as a priest and something I rejoice in every day.
